July 25, 2017 - Missionary Training Center

Hello Everyone!

I am loving this opportunity to serve God and my fellow man.  At the MTC, I am surrounded by 2400 sons and daughters of God who love Him, and want to bring others closer to Jesus Christ. Isn't that so amazing? So the first few days dragged by, they took forever, but it was mostly because we spent 9 hours a day learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned so much, it is so amazing to me! My companion is Elder Fitch, and he is from Portland, Oregon. He is so awesome, one of the nicest, most patient guys on the earth. We have been able to teach a couple of investigators, and I love seeing the joy they have when they feel the Spirit of God. The MTC is super awesome, I have loved singing in it! The devotional on Sunday night was about the power of music, and the speaker sang to us a lot. It was really powerful, music has a wonderful way of speaking to us, and helping us feel closer to Christ.

Four of the elders in my district are going to Salt Lake City East with me, as are two of the sisters. I have enjoyed exercise time thoroughly, MTC basketball is quite the thing. I have been very cautious so far as to how much I play and how hard I go. Everyday I grow closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. I love Him so much, and I know that he cares for me in all that I do. I love Him, and I love all of the people I have met so far! The joy I feel in learning the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the joy I feel in serving others is so great. This has truly been the greatest week of my life so far. Every race I ever won, ever state title I ever won, every goal I achieved in running brought me great joy. But the joy and happiness I feel now is so much greater! I truly love this gospel, I love Our Savior Jesus Christ, and I know that this is all true. I would love to invite you all to get a copy of the Book of Mormon, and read it, and pray to know if it is true. I promise you that if you read even a small portion of the book, just a couple of verses, and pray to God to know if they are true, He will tell you, by his Holy Spirit, that these things you read are true. You will feel a feeling of warmth, comfort, peace and happiness. I love you all so much, and I am excited to continue to help and invite others to come closer to Jesus Christ, and to follow Him.

Some pictures might be cool to add. The four of us in green ties are the four sons of Mosiah, from left, Elder Johson, Elder Vandehei, Elder Adams, and Elder Fitch. We are all Salt Lake City East bound, and roommates too, Best room in the R8. (The other picture is the same missionaries at the Provo Temple). The last picture has a fun story. We were instructed by our guy teacher, Brother Savage(he plays football at BYU), our Branch President, President Redding, and the mission president, President Martino, to only call each other Elders and Sisters, not guys, dudes, bro, y'all and stuff like that. So our district started 10 pushups every time we messed up. I did no joke, 160 pushups the first day, 140 the second, 110 on the third, and I am so sore. I love it though! So the picture is me at the 6th floor doing 10 right then so they didn't add up till the end of the day. That's all I have for now, love ya.
